Decarbonisation

Environmental protection

OTP Group declares its responsibility towards the environment in its ESG strategy, setting out the guidelines, for reducing environmental impacts and promoting sustainable business practices across the Group. These commitments are closely aligned with the Group’s broader sustainability objectives, which are presented in detail in the OTP Group ESG Strategy.

Greening our operations

OTP Group is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its own operations as part of its long-term decarbonisation objectives and broader sustainability strategy. This commitment is driven by regulatory expectations and embedded into day-to-day operational decision-making.

In this context, OTP Group maintains its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions from its own operations by 2050.

As part of its environmental initiatives OTP Bank Hungary collaborates with Pilisi Parkerdő Zrt. In the development and long-term conservation of the 320-hectare Budakeszi Vadaskert area. The partnership focuses on preserving the area’s ecological value, while strengthening its public, educational, and recreational functions through a nature-based, urban forest approach.

The initiative prioritizes ecosystem protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate adaptation, applying sustainable and environmentally conscious land-use practices.

It also provides a framework for professional and scientific cooperation, with impact measurement and certification carried out by the Institute of Environmental and Nature Protection at the University of Sopron, ensuring transparency and long-term knowledge development.

In line with its decarbonisation approach, OTP Group addresses residual emissions through carbon compensation measures. Accordingly, OTP Bank Hungary continued its practice of purchasing carbon credits, totalling 7,000 tCO2e in 2025.
